1920s Gelatin Sequin Dress
1920s Gelatin Sequin Dress
Absolutely incredible antique gelatin sequin dress. Gelatin sequins stopped being manufactured in the 1930s when it was realized their delicate nature could not sustain extended periods of wear in heat or moisture. A hot night dancing could absolutely melt off the sequins from wherever your partner's hands landed on your dress!
This dress has water damage to all of its sequins. One shoulder seam is becoming undone. There are a few tears in the lace as pictured.
This dress is very heavily beaded and needs to be handled with care. We do not recommend it be worn, but it is a stunning piece of fashion history and can be great for fashion historians, designers, and collectors.
